Discover the joy

Reading the Bible in the original Greek (or Hebrew in the Old Testament) should not be for the purpose of puffing up your pride or building up arguments to defeat your opponent. Reading the Bible in Greek allows you to see the Word of God in a whole new light, so you can gain a greater appreciation of the beauty of the Gospel and the genius of the Spirit.

It seems daunting to start the process of learning a new language. There is study and some work involved in getting into Greek, but the payoff comes in learning truths about our Savior and His message of grace that you could never see in an English Bible. You can do this. You can learn to read the Gospel of Mark in Greek or the epistles of John.

All those in the class should purchase a copy of William Mounce’s Basics of Biblical Greek. The workbook is also suggested to help cement the teaching in the class and book.
